Coming in at just one minute and forty-five seconds, Mr. Bones' new single "Do You Wanna Feel Alright" doesn't need much time to make an impression. Like so many of their lo-fi predecessors, the Portland-based band has embraced a short-and-sweet songwriting style that's relentlessly likable (hell, only three tracks on their last album were longer than two minutes).
"Do You Wanna Feel Alright" is all fuzz and chutzpah, with gleefully distorted vocals and an infectious chorus that would be right at home in the late nineties. It's a bit more produced than their previous work, but that's very much a relative statement—we're still a few miles from anything resembling "polish," and that's exactly how it should be.
Mr. Bones will be playing at Portland's Analog Cafe & Theater on December 13, and the're set to release their new album Bites sometime in winter 2016. Based on this little preview, it's going to be a banger.
