PREMIERE: Funny Death - Fell For It

Meet Funny Death, the solo project of Jad Mroué, written and recorded entirely during a stay in Japan. His dreamy, eclectic pop hits a nostalgic zenith on his new video "Fell For It," from his upcoming album ファニーデス on NYC indie label Dead Meat.

In parallel with his auditory collage of retro synthpop, modern chillwave, and a few characteristic samples from decadal Japanese media, the video is laden with old-school pop-culture references superimposed via a green screen blanket. It's an element that's as initially jarring as it is endearing—this is a piece where, just like it is through the rest of his aesthetic, the past and present are inextricable.
